This is very important as it displays what I have used and why it has helped me to make my finial magazine. It also shows how I have futhered my knowledge on different technology process in order to create a professional looking finial music magazine for example I explained the different tools I used on photoshop.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have; learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I created this video on imovie and its about how I have developed from my preliminary task to my finial music magazine. Within this movie I have included pictures, text and a voice over. I feel that I have developed well from my preliminary task to my final magazine. This is because I had little knowledge on photoshop before I started the course. However now I have gain more understand and knowledge on photoshop therefore this has allowed me to create a more successful finial magazine. And the quality of my finial magazine is much higher than my preliminary task.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

I created a prezi on who will be the target audience for my music magazine, for this I talked about who the target audience are, why thet are likely to read my magazine. This gives an insight to who my target audience are for example I explained that they are secondary school girls aged 15-17 years old who like pop music and want to find out more about the pop music industry.

What kind of institution might distribute your media product and why?

I have used imovie to create a movie based on the distribution of my music magazine. I spoke about what company will distribution my magazine, why I have chosen that company and why distributing my magazine will benefit the company. I have used a mixture of text, voice overs and images in this video.

How does your media product represent particular social group?

I have used prezi, to write about how my media magazine represents a particluar social group. Within this prezi, I explained how colours, images and text are used to represent the target audience of teenage girls who enjoy listening to pop music.

In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I have created a video on imovie, in this video I explore how my music magazine develops, uses or challenges forms and conventions of real media products. During this video I have a mixture of text, images and voice overs.

How did you attract/address your audience?

I have made a music magazine that attracts and address my target audience. Before making my pop music magazine I completed some research to find out what my target audience wanted. I spoke to different members of my target audience and asked them to complete some questions that were on my blog. This was very important as it helped me to find out what my target audience wanted. Uses and gratification theory has helped me when creating my magazine.  I found that most people in my target audience wanted a new pop music magazine, which would give them information and entertain them. My magazine is likely to attract the target audience because I have included what my target audience would expect to see in a pop music magazine for example I have included bright girly colours such as pinks and purples. I have included writing on the front cover, which will attract the buyer because it gives them an insight to what will be in the magazine. This will make the target audience want to buy the magazine so they are able to read the articles inside. I have used other selling techniques to attract the target audience for example the use of new media. Most of my target audience are likely to use new media, therefore I have made my music magazine fit in to people’s lifestyle. I have done this by including a website address in my magazine, this will allow readers to go on the internet to check the latest updates for news and gossip in the pop music industry. Most people also go on social networking sites, and I have included in my contents page information about the target audience following simply pop on facebook and twitter. My target audience will use my magazine to inform them about the pop music industry, but they also wanted a magazine that they would enjoy reading, I have made the magazine so it fun and attracts the target audience of teenage girls. I have done this by making the double page spread article fun and enjoyable to read. I have also included a mixture of text and photos so that there is a balance for the reader. The photos that have been included are fun and creative to attract the target audience. I feel that I have successfully created a pop music magazine that attracts and addresses the target audience of teenage girls who enjoy pop music.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing the product?

When making my music magazine for my coursework I have been about to use a wide range of professional equipment and software to make my music magazine look professional. The technology equipment that I have used includes professional canon camera and photoshop. These have been good to use as it has allowed a successful final magazine. The advantages of using a canon camera are that the qualities of the photos are very high compared to using a normal digital camera. This has allowed my photos look like professional photos that could be used in a magazine. When I did my photoshoot I used a normal level of lighting which this allowed my pictures to come out well and they did not look too bright or too dark. After I had collected all of my photos for my magazine I started to construct my magazine by using photoshop. The advantages of using photoshop are that it has many tools in order for me to edit my photos. I used the colour range tool in order for me to take away the background from the photo, by taking the photo away from its background, this has meant that the finial photos that I have used look very professional and do not have a background attached to it. This also means that when I have been putting my magazine together the photos do not take up as much space. I also used the text tool in order for me to add titles, pull quotes and the article to my magazine. When adding the article to my double page spread I used the tool in photoshop called paths this has allowed me to add text around the images that I have used. This would also be done in a professional music magazine. I have also used the shape tool to create boxes to add one of my photos in it on my double page spread; I also used the shape tool to add pull quotes in my double page spread and text on my contents page. Another important tool that I have used on my music magazine is the colour tool, due to my magazine being a pop magazine I have used a wide range of colours which is very important as it has allowed my magazine to stand out. On my contents page I used the text editing tool, to make all of the text bold so it stands out and I have also added a shadow to some of the key important key to make it stand out. I have also used blogger when constructing my music magazine, I have used this to show the progress that I have made when making my magazine and to display all of my work. I feel that technologies used in the process of constructing my music magazine very important as it has allowed me to edit photos and create a pop music magazine that will attract my target audience. I have done this by using the features of photoshop in order to create a successful and professional looking music magazine.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have; learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I completed my preliminary task at the beginning of my AS media studies, I had to make a school magazine. I feel that I have progressed well from my preliminary task to my finial music magazine. When I completed my preliminary task I had little knowledge and understanding of how to use photoshop so this put me at a disadvantage, however since completing my preliminary task my understanding of photoshop has progressed and I am a very pleased with the final outcome of my music magazine simply pop and feel that the magazine looks professional. My contents page on my preliminary task is very simply and there is lots of black space. I have only included one image on my contents page and the image is not good quality. However when doing my finial music magazine I used more than one image and the quality of the pictures where very good. The layout of my contents page of my preliminary task is very plain, however before completing my final music magazine I completed some research on music magazines and found that the layout needs to be creative, I have done this by including sections for the contents page and using more colours and making the text stand out. I have also included a editors note to introduces the readers to the magazine. When completing the front over of my magazine again it looked very simple. However when completed the finial version of my magazine for the masthead on the front cover and the title for the double page spread, I downloaded a front from the internet rather than using a simple front from photoshop. Since making my preliminary task I have progressed with my knowledge and understanding of how to use photoshop, this has meant that I was about to be creative on photoshop using the different tools available in order to make a successful pop music magazine. Also in order to create a good music magazine I have learnt more about music magazines after completing my preliminary task and this helped me to collect ideas for my magazine. I did this by completing research on front covers, contents pages and double pages spreads. I also looked created a mood board to help me think of ideas for my pop music magazine. Looking back at my preliminary task I feel that my work was low quality how now that I have learnt have progressed with my skills and knowledge on how to create a magazine. I feel that my finial music magazine is high quality.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

My target audience for my music magazine are teenage girls who are around the ages of 15-17 and enjoy listening to pop music. They will been students from secondary school who will want to read simply pop to relax and have a break from doing school work. They are likely to be middle class students and enjoy reading things relating to their interests for example pop music magazines. I found out about my target audience by talking to potential readers of my magazine. I found that people in my target audience would like regular information about the pop music industry.  Readers of my magazine are likely to attend regular pop music events such as concerts. There social habits are likely to be going out with friends socializing. Places that they are likely to go with friends are music events or shopping. They are likely to have a large interest in fashion and this is likely to be very important to them. The readers are likely to have a fun personality and like bright cheerful colours. They will also like girly colours such as pinks and purples. New media will be important to my target audience and for example social networking sites were they can contact friends such as facebook and twitter. My target audience will like to find out about the latest news in the pop music industry and will be people who like a mixture of both images and text in my articles. I have found out this information about my target audience thought questions on my blog. I ask members of my target audience to answer some questions and this helped me to find out the wants and needs of my target audience.  I also found information about my target audience by looking at other pop magazines and see how they have been layed out and what they have included.

What kind of institution might distribute your media product and why?

A distribution company is a company who will manufacture a magazine. IPC will distribute my pop music magazine.  This is a company that distributes a wide range of print media products. I have chosen to have IPC to distribute my pop music magazine because they are a UK leading magazine publisher company and currently publish many successful magazines that are already on the market. I believe that IPC would want to distribute my magazine simply pop because they are a company that doesn’t already have a magazine similar to mine. This will mean that the company will be launching a magazine to a new target audience which is different from the other music magazines which they distribute such as NME. This will benefit the company as they will be distributing magazines to a number of different audiences. The company will like my magazine simply pop, because there are not many other pop music magazines currently on the market. This will therefore mean that IPC will hold a high market share for pop music magazines.  IPC will also like my magazine as there are not many pop music magazines out on the market so they will be giving pop music fans what they want. I believe that simply pop would be successful as I have met the wants and needs of the target audience.  They will want a magazine that will attract the target audience and will be popular in order for the magazine to sell well. Having a new magazine on the market can be very successful for IPC as it will increase profit for them and they are currently  already have many popular magazines.

How does your media product represent particular social group?

My media music magazine is representing a particular social group. The social group that I am representing is teenage girls who are fans of pop music.  The main music artist in the magazine has been represented as fun, talented and successful music artist.  In my pictures I have represented the social group by making the pictures fun and creative. I have also used a range of different fashionable outfits in the pictures and is would be important to the social group who enjoy listening to pop music artist as most teenage girls like fashionable clothing and what they wear can be very important to them.  Before making my magazine I looked at other pop magazines to see how I could represent my social group. When looking at other pop music magazines such top of the pops. I found that the photos that are included in the magazines are mainly taken in a studio rather than different location settings. So I decided to have my photoshoot in school using a white background setting. When taking the pictures I used bright lighting which creates a positive atmosphere when reading my magazine. This represented my social group as they will want a magazine that is fun to read. The models that I have used fit in with my target audience as they are both teenage girls, this allows potential readers to easy indentify the target audience. I have made sure I have represented my social group in my magazine throughout the making process I have done this by asking for feedback from my target audience then improving my magazine from what they have said. The colours that I have used in my magazine represent my social group. I have used lots of pinks and purples, these are colours that my target audience said they liked when I asked them to complete questions that were on my blog. I also found that these colours were used in top of the pops magazine. Before doing my photoshoot I looked at different types of photos that I could take. I wanted my images to stand out and be creative. I feel that I have successfully done this and the images that I have chosen to use in my magazine look very prefessional. In most of the pictures the models are smiling which highlights there nice personality.  I feel that I have represented my social group well in my pop music magazine. All of the elements in the mise-en-scene of my magazine work well together in order to highlight the target audience of teenage girls who enjoy pop music.

In what way does you media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My magazine has been developed to make it look like a real media music magazine. One way which has helped me develop my magazine is by looking at existing music magazine throughout designing and making my magazine. All magazines that are in the market include a masthead this is the name of the magazine.  The masthead is normally included at the top of the front cover. The masthead in my magazine is very clear and bold which makes it stand out to the target audience. I have used a bright pink colour in the masthead and the name for my magazine is called Simply Pop. I thought this was a very good name for my magazine as it very catchy and easy to remember likewise this is the case for other music magazines such as Smash Hits and Top Of The Pops. The masthead is important for the target audience as it gives it a brand identity and makes it easy for the target audience to remember and identify the magazine. My front cover has a large image of a music artist in the middle of the page and there is an article on her inside the magazine, the photo takes up most of the space in the front cover and this is very similar to most magazines that are on the market. It again highlights the music genre as she is a Pop music artist.  Along the bottom I have created a rectangle bright pink coloured box with white writing include which includes words such as interviews and concerts to inform the reader of what will be included in the music magazine.  This is a technique that would be used is a wide range of media products to give the readers quick informative information to persuade them to buy the product I have included a range of different types of shots within my front cover, contents page and double page spread. These include shots such as close up and long shots. The photography in my magazine is very professional looking and this is due to the high quality equipment that has been used during the photoshoot such as digital cameras and white background. I was able to edit the photos on photoshop by taking away the background.  It is very important in a real music magazine for the photos to be professional looking so that it adds quality to the magazine. I feel that I have achieved this effect in my music magazine. The contents page in any magazine is a page to inform the readers and tell them the page numbers for the articles. My contents page includes four sections where I have divided the pages into features, interviews, fashion and events. I have used different colours in my contents page which highlights fun within the pop music genre.  Many contents page includes an editors note which welcomes the readers and gives them a quick insight to what types of articles will be included in the magazine, I have applied this in to my magazine and found that many people in my target audience would value this and I have seen this through the results on my poll on my blog most people thought that it is very important to included an editors note in a magazine.  My double page spread includes two pages, my first page includes one A4 size picture of the music articles and the other half of the page includes an introduction the readers to the articles and gives a information about the music artist.  The writing for the interview is in columns and this is normally the form of writing in a magazine as its an easy layout for the readers to read. My article is an interview and therefore has a number of sub titles. There are in different colours so that it is easy for the target audience to see what are the question and what are the answers. The style of writing is friendly in the during the interview. It is important to have friendly writing in a pop music magazine as it engages the readers attention and draws them into the article. This is similar to reading a pop music magazine as I found this by research a double page spread from Top Of The Pops.
I feel that I have successfully made a product which has been well developed and created in order for the finial outcome to look like a real media music magazine.
